Mr. Julius James Shirima is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of DARECHA, a post he has held since December, 2008.He was born in 1989.
Mr. Shirima has held several social-project leadership positions before founding DARECHA in late 2008, including roles in Grow Green Itsuseng- a gardening project in underprivileged community of Itsuseng in Johannesburg, South Africa, Ecosolutions group and Class Tests Program(CTP). In 2001-03 he led his primary school which had no any teacher by then to pass the primary education national examinations and the year later he was selected to join Kibaha Secondary school one of the best government schools in Tanzania. While his studying at Kibaha, he founded CTP which he run as director for four years.
Mr. Shirima has received several academic distinctions such as being one of the top students in Tanzania national examinations in 2007. He has recently received the best entrepreneurship student award of the year and Dean’s award at African Leadership Academy .Mr Shirima is well known for his ability in generating ideas which aims at developing his community at large and bringing positive changes.
Mr Shirima has established a strong foundation with organizations like Global Changemakers-British Council, University of Dar Es Salaam Entrepreneurship Centre (UDEC), Ministry of youth, labour and development etc. He is well organized individual and confident in presenting his ideas.Furthermore he is well known for high risk taking behavior.
Mr. Shirima has a big vision for DARECHA which he wants to expand the organization to cover Africa in a large scale.
Mr. Shirima is a high school student at African Leadership Academy pursuing a unique curriculum of LEA (Leadership, Entrepreneurship and African studies) where he interacts with young leaders from all over Africa.
He is very passionate about actuarial science and wants to use the actuarial knowledge to start many other companies and organizations which will end poverty in Africa.
He is currently working on his idea of establishing the Scientific Innovation Empire (SIE),the organization which will bring scientific revolution in Africa by exposing the science talents of young people who are in underprivileged environment.
